China sex toy makers cautiously embrace ai wave

Chinese factories producing hyper-realistic gear have started cautiously integrating AI into their dolls. While the industry is currently slowed down by technology costs and battery weight, progress is inevitable.

In Guangdong province at a Guangzhou exhibition, devices with the beginnings of brains are already on display. A major player, Shenzhen Yisheng Technology, confirmed that customers increasingly demand dolls capable of holding a dialogue and changing facial expressions. Their brand Starpery is already working on models that can mimic human movements and speech using large language models.

The main bottleneck right now is hardware. To make a doll move like a human, complex motors are required, which make the body extremely heavy and drain power fast. However, engineers are confident that in a few years your waifu will not only be able to wink but also fully replace a conversation partner.
